Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions related to our services.

General Questions

Apple Certified Technicians? How does that work?

Many of our technicians, if not all, are Apple Certified Technicians. And that means that our company and our technicians cared enough about our customers & clients to go through the process and expense of becoming Apple Certified. Some of our techs actually even hold multiple Apple certifications.

CompuVana requires that all of our technicians become Apple Certified in order to work on our customers computers and devices.

What is an Apple Certified Technician?

Apple Certified Technicians hold at least one certification that they have obtained by successfully passing one or more of Apple Inc.’s certification exams. The minimum requirement for our technicians is to pass and obtain the Apple Certified Macintosh Technician certification. But we encourage all of our technicians to shoot for the moon and obtain as many as they can.

Do you price match the competition?

We sure do. We will match a competitors price as long as the following conditions are met:
– They have to be an actual brick and mortar store. Meaning, they can’t be working out of their house or performing repairs from their car.
– They have to be within a 10 mile radius of our store.
– They have to have the price of the repair listed on their website. Phone calls to verify price are not valid, as they can change the price on a whim.

If all of those are met, we will happily match that price. However, (legal jargon), we reserve the right to refuse to match any price that is below our actual cost of the part needed for the repair. But we’ve never turned anyone away yet!

What types of Smartphones do you repair?

We repair only Apple iPhones. We only repair Apple products.

I tried repairing my iPhone myself and well......let's just say it doesn't work anymore. Can I still bring it in for repair or diagnostic?

Everyone has to learn somehow right?

Sure. Bring it and every part you can find on in. We’ll do our best to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Why does CompuVana only repair Apple products?

The short answer to that is, we just enjoy working on Apple products more than anything else. But there is another reason. We believe that, to be the best at what we do (repairing Apple products), that we need to focus only on those select products. That’s just the way we run our company, and that’s why we are so good at what we do.

Another reason is that, if we start fixing things like Tv’s and toasters and game consoles, that would make us an electronics repair company. And we’re not an electronics repair company. We are an Apple computer and device repair company that also offers lessons and consulting services to our clients. We are your Apple Store alternative.

I have multiple issues with my iPhone, can I get a deal on multiple repairs?

Yes you can, give us a call and describe your problem and we will see what we could do for you.

iPhone Repair Questions

How long will it take to repair my iPhone?

Typically, most repairs including broken or cracked glass screen replacement takes only 30 minutes or less. You can usually wait for your iPhone repair.

Do you use real OEM Original Apple parts in your iPhone repairs?

At CompuVana, for the first 6 years of performing repairs, we only used the highest quality parts, or OEM originals whenever we could locate them. We refused to skimp on the price & quality of our parts for profit. To this day, we still believe in high quality and customer satisfaction. However, Apple Inc. does not sell it’s original parts to the public, therefor everyone, other than Apple, must source their own parts for repairs. We have tested every part from just about every manufacturer and we believe that our supplier for these parts is the best of the best. So much so that we offer a lifetime warranty on all of our parts, so you know you’re in good hands with our repairs.

Do I need to give you my passcode with my phone?

We’d really prefer it. Yes.

And the reason that we require that our customers leave their passcode or password with us is because we need to fully test your device before we start with the repair, during, and again after to re-test. It is our policy, and always has been.

To make the repair process flow smoothly, we ask for your passcode so that we can test the speakers, Wifi, cellular connection, proximity sensor, home button, power button, front and back cameras, etc. You see, we want to make sure that if we break anything during the repair process, that we will know that it was our fault, so we can then fix the additional issue at our cost, or in the most extreme case, buy you a new iPhone or iPad.

99.9% of our customers are more than happy with his process. But for that .1% that isn’t, we have options for you too.

Your privacy and comfortability is a huge deal to us, so as an alternative, any customer who feels uneasy about leaving their passcode with us, is given the option to have us test the device at that time in front of them so that there is no need to leave a passcode. However, we are a very busy company, so when there are several people in line, we don’t always have the time to perform the tests on demand. In this case, if you refuse to leave your passcode so that we can test your device, we will kindly ask you to setup an appointment for your repair, and return at that time so that our technician can properly test your device with you before your repair. But if the customer refuses to leave the passcode with us, even after we have offered the private appointment option, we will suggest that the customer explore repair options at another company that also performs these types of repairs.

As far as your privacy goes, unfortunately, if you ever need your iPhone, iPod, iPad or computer repaired, and unless you are very savvy at electronics repair, you will need to trust someone with this task, and your data. So with that being said, all we can tell you is that we have the highest standards when it comes to your privacy. We are a small company, and hire only a select few technicians that we not only perform background checks on, but also get to know for several weeks before we let them perform repairs on their own. But a few things should make you feel better entrusting your privacy with us over just any iPhone or computer repair store. We are Apple certified technicians, so we have more to lose than those other places, and additionally, we believe that it at least provides a standard that we have set to legitimize us, at the very least for the customers’ sake.

Do you need my SIM card?

No we do not need your SIM card but without it we cannot fully test your device.

iPad Repair Questions

How long will it take top repair my iPad?

Usually about a day. But we have “same day” rush service available too for a small fee.

The repair itself only takes our Apple Certified Technicians about 30 minutes to complete, but we like the iPad to sit for at least 12 hours for the glue / adhesive to properly adhere to the glass. We stock almost all replacement parts and glass for Apple iPad, so unless we need to order your glass or LCD because we are sold out, like we said, it takes about a day.
